Hi, I'm Joelle MW McIntosh, and I have been teaching Career and Technical Education/ Business courses for 15 years. I taught in the School District of University City and Ritenour in the suburban counties of St. Louis, Missouri. Each year I teach students from all grade levels, between the ages of 14-18, in demographically mixed classes of 20-25 students. I am an active member of my school community. Over the years, I have served on the School Improvement Team, designed to review the efficacy of school-wide policies and procedures designed to enhance the educational environment; the Career and Technical Education Curriculum Revision Team, to examine, adopt and implement the MBA Research High School of Business delivering business project/problem-based lessons. During my years in education, I have taught business management, marketing, economics, entrepreneurship, and personal finance courses.
I received a bachelor's degree in Business Management and a Master's degree in Business Administration, with an emphasis on International Business, from Webster University in 1996 and 1998. Before entering the teaching profession, I worked in Personal Asset management for several major banks. In 2001, I left corporate America and worked as a substitute teacher in an elementary music classroom. In 2004 I earned a Business Education Teacher certificate from Lindenwood University. In 2006, I accepted a position with my current employer. I am working toward a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Missouri St. Louis.
I am married with two daughters. My hobbies include travel, cooking, crafting, and mentoring young entrepreneurs. I received a Fulbright IREX Teachers for Global Classrooms Fellowship in 2017. My primary objectives for participating in TGC are to develop my professional skills and strategies in global education to better prepare students for employment in the 21st-century marketplace by applying insight and knowledge gained from my international field experiences.
