It's 8:03 pm Friday night. I can't believe I leave for Peru in just 3 days. We depart at 8am Monday morning and arrive in Lima at 10 pm. As I sit here I wonder have I prepared enough? Have thought of everything? Twenty-one days is a long time to be gone. I have 2 huge bags full of things. One suitcase has clothing. It's winter there, the temperatures are in the 60 degrees Fahrenheit daily. You know it's really hard to pack for winter, when your living through a heatwave, today's high was 95 degrees but it felt like 100+ degrees Fahrenheit. It wiped me out! My second suitcase is full of CHOCOLATE! When I asked my host teacher what I should bring to share with her students, she said CHOCOLATE. So I'm bringing 20 lbs with t-shirts, and other small things from my district. I also have photo album to share my family, a yearbook to share my school, and an electronic presentation about my district and my students....hmm what else?
Stay tuned to see what else I add... Hasta Manana

This fellowship has been about total growth as a teacher. The fall online course was INTENSE. This was my first distance learning class. The first week was a steep learning curve. We formatted our OBA pages, we read the syllabus, we were invited to interact with new tech tools AND learned about globalization, global competency and cosmopolitanism. That first week, I thought...what have I gotten myself into. Then I said, Trust the process. Today as I sit, in frustration, learning how to use this Weebly site, I again say...'Trust the process.'
I am creating this site as one of the final assignments in Fullbright IREX Teachers for Global Classroom Fellowship. From making my application in 2017 until now, the journey has been epic! Beginning with great deal of fear and a ton of excitement. Afraid of the unknown, the things a I don't know, that I don't know AND excited about all the possibilities. Thank you in advance for 'traveling' with me. Categories |
