Today I taught a lesson on 21st Century skills which are skills students need to be prepared for tomorrow's workforce. My 30 minute lesson included a writing prompt, a group activity, a video and I introduced a new technology tool by using Prezi. In preparing the Prezi, I typed the words of my lesson into a Google Doc and translated it to Spanish. I know just enough Spanish to be pretty clear about what I wanted it to say. I was able to deliver the lesson in both English and Spanish! My pronunciation was awkward but I think they appreciated the effort. I can't be sure that they will really remember anything about what I taught today. But I'm hopeful that they will always remember the day they had a lesson taught by an African American female teacher who challenged them to be creative thinkers who encouraged them to learn foreign languages in preparation for the future work world. Today was a good day!
